Lori Urban
Candidate State Chairman
Candidate State Chairman
(Maricopa County)
Women who have worked with Lori won't even support her.
GOP women who are concerned for the conservative Party:
We take this opportunity to give
insight into our dealings with Lori Urban as related to her history and current
lack of leadership which has negatively impacted outcomes in the Paradise
Republican Women’s Club and other various party-affiliated events.
Our observations and experiences
as they pertain to Ms. Urban’s lack of skills and her desire to be promoted to
a high level position in the Arizona GOP are listed below. In our opinion, a position requiring
diplomacy, integrity, and appropriate management abilities as related to
Republican values, morals and ethics are lacking in this candidate. The list below is a basic delineation
of substandard skills and abuses:
a. Fails
to give direction to committees in a timely manner
b. Lacks
skills in following-up with “time sensitive” communications to members and
committees
c. Demonstrates
few abilities in prioritizing projects which result in “clashing priorities”
d. Misuses
club contact system by adding her own personal contact list which resulted in
additional cost incurred by the club for e-mail distribution
e. Inappropriate
use of funds; i.e., used club account for personal funding
f. Personal
check payable to a Women’s Republican club returned to her for “insufficient
funds”
g. Use
of improper procedures; i.e., untenably berated club board member in front of
other members at a club board meeting after requesting the recording secretary
to not record the incident in the minutes
h. Lacks
diplomatic skills when addressing members/volunteers
i. Disregards
Club’s By-Laws protocol while conducting meetings; i.e., no Executive Board or
general meeting minutes appropriately drafted and approved for dissemination to
Club membership
j.
Fails/refuses to involve members who volunteer
their services for respective committees and projects as well as filling vacant
board positions
k. Insists
on doing everything herself; i.e., website, etc., resulting in depicting a
“control-style” management
l. Continuously
projects an unprofessional image (contrary to that of conservative women)
m. Takes
false “credit” for actions and activities of members and volunteers
n. Fails
to timely communicate pertinent state-wide activities and events
o. Due
to heavily involvement/over commitment in multiple organizations, she is unable
to give 100% leadership time to president or chair responsibilities
We are disappointed to report
that Lori Urban has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of management skills in the
above areas; hence, we ask “Why would we want to promote her to the position of
Chairman, Arizona Republican Party?”
Respectively,

What kind of judgement does Lori have?
While Lori wants to blame the current state chairman for the loss of registered voters and Precinct Committeemen she should take a good close look at who she recruited to be on her slate as her first vice-chairman. Note that it's the responsibility of the county chairmen to do voter outreach and PC recruitment in their own counties. She recruited A.J. LaFaro to run on her slate, however, in Maricopa county they lost over 12,000 registered Republican voters and over 540 Precinct Committeemen. We get it, it's an election but it's also a bit hypocritical to go after your opponent for things that your own teammate didn't do.
Also, note that the team that Lori recruited has three people all from the same Legislative District and one is so new that many PCs in LD23 don't even know who she is. This is pretty shortsighted on her part since the state officers should be representative of the entire State of Arizona.
Does Lori and her team even understand the role of the State party?
Attempting to pull votes by appealing to the emotions of state committeemen by stating that they will repeal common core and medicaid expansion is disingenuous. While many of us would love to see that happen, let's be realistic. Someone running for State party chairman and the various officer positions should understand that it's the job of the LEGISLATURE to repeal these policies.
Secondly, there is a difference between Medicaid and Medicare. Arizona didn't expand Medicare, it was Medicaid that was expanded. So according to her team's sign they want to repeal something that wasn't expanded.
Follow the Bylaws?
Again, interesting that this seems to a top issue for her but then she recruited a person to run as her First Vice-Chairman who has no understanding as to what that means. Also according to women who have worked with her it appears that she has a problem following bylaws as well.
